Money Must Have No Hold Over Me!
We all need money. We need it to pay bills, eat, get our kids through school, for clothes, basic needs and more. God knows we need money. But we must also remember that money must not dictate who we are, how we serve God or how we treat others. Money must not have a hold over us. The god of this world is mammon - money. It is what everyone on this planet is chasing after - money and power. But we are not of this world. This place is not our home. We cannot think and act and do like the world. We are supposed to see money in a different light. Money is just something we need to finish our actual missions here on earth. It's not the reason we live! Your bank balance should not determine your actions, behavior or spirituality. Your bank balance is not supposed to determine your prayer life, your character and how you treat people. Money should not be the determining factor on how you see yourself, what your status is or how good God is.
Just because you are struggling financially, doesn't mean you are not a child of God, it doesn't mean you have done something wrong and it doesn't mean that this is what God wants for you! Satan uses poverty to damage us, cause us to doubt God and lose our salvation. But God will also use our poverty to draw us closer to Him because our salvation is the most expensive commodity you will ever own! Why are we so bothered by material comforts?
God will use our financial difficulties so that we can get rid of greed because greed will cause us to sin and we will be no different than the people in this world! 1 Tim 6:10 says that it's love for money that is the reason many are not serving God anymore today! Why will God give you money, if all it will do is take you away from Him?
God must take us through a process so that we are able to handle financial breakthroughs! We must not be controlled by what our bank balance says! We cannot be believers that say: God is good....because there's money in my bank account! That's not true faith! Heb 13:5 says that we must be content no matter what! Regardless of the bank account, God is good! Regardless of the financial pressure, God is still good! Take a moment right now and pray a prayer of repentance where you have placed money above your love and passion for God! Repent for your vanity! We are all vulnerable to the need for money, but it must never be greater than our need to be right with God!
